A New Start

I have had a blog for some time now but haven't been regular with postings. But now want to be committed to sharing farm life, produce growing for CSA and farmers markets with Walker Farms, crafts with kids and my creative outlet with Sew.Stitch.Create., as well as some recipe sharing. Join me on my adventure!

To get started with my blogs new start, I thought I'd start with something similar to what I see on a lot of other blogs. A "weekly what's going on type thing" that I enjoy reading on other blogs. I should probably have these be posts for Mondays, but for this week, today will do. :)

The weather: Too cold for my liking! On my way home from work, the wind was blowing hard and I'm sure there will be some good size drifts in the morning. We are hearing of 3 snow storm systems coming between now and next weekend. Lovely! At the beginning of these snow storms, I was trying not to complain. We were due for a "good - cold" winter and needed one. The freezing temps are good to kill off germs, bugs, diseases, etc...and the snow will be good to put moisture in the ground. But now I think its safe to say, we've had enough and I'm ready for Spring, green grass, and not having to bundle up every inch of our bodies to step out to the car in the mornings.

On my TV: Nothing right now, just put the kids down for bed and am enjoying some quiet time.

On the menu for this week:  Scott has been home from work the passed few days, so he has done a great job of having dinners going when the kids and I get home from work, school, and the sitter. He enjoys cooking in the winter time. Hopefully plan to share our weekly meal planning here.

On my to do list this week: Nothing specific. Regular house cleaning. Laundry and picking up toys is never ending.

Sew.Stitch.Create. projects for the week: I am finishing up a infinity scarf tonight, a hat and fingerless gloves are up next, then 3 chevron dresses are up for the weekend. I love custom orders!  Scott is also helping me with some new wood prop items to offer on my page.

Walker Farms projects for the week: In other years, we would be getting close to start seeding, but we are going to sit tight for a while longer through this real cold spell. We are signing up people for our CSA memberships, seed is being delivered and we are ordering, and also getting our chick order ready.

School's in Session!

Our summer was great and went by fast! Now it is time for school to start again. Ty  is in kindergarten this year! He is excited, a little nervous, but looking forward to it!

We went school shopping a few weeks ago and he picked out a Spider-Man book bag and yellow/black tennis shoes!
We enjoyed dinner at his choice of Red Robin!
Earlier this week was Meet the Teacher night! Scott and I took Ty into the school and we found his class. He met Mrs.
Clouse and was excited to see everything in the room. Then he was set and all ready for the big day!
The last few days of summer went by fast but we enjoyed a night out to dinner at Fair Oaks farms

August 23, 2013 - first day of kindergarten!
I am excited for him and know he will do just fine. He's outgoing, makes friends easily, and loves to learn. But I had tears... That i didn't let him see...Not because I didn't want him to go but because I can't believe he's going already! Where has time gone! Today kindergarten.. Tomorrow graduating high school ... As fast as time goes!
We also packed his lunch! He is a pretty picky eater and I don't think school lunch is going to cut it for him! So! I ordered some bento lunch items... But they haven't came in yet. So we used what we had to make lunch fun!
Here's my first of many bento lunches!
Have a great day Ty! I know you'll love it!!

September and October

These two months around our home were mainly devoted to our Walker Farms Fall Harvest Days! This was our second year doing it and we were happy with the turn out of customers. We tried some new things this year and hope to expand on them in future years.
We were also busy with Ty's soccer games. The kids are so fun to watch! I will post some pictures that I took from my phone below.
Halloween was also exciting....This year Ty was a Motor Cross Racer and Lane was Batman.
As the end of October is winding down  so is our busy life. So we went on a vacation to Disney!! Pictures in the next post!

Waaayyy behind!!

Wow am I way behind! I want to try to get caught up on my blog here soon! A lot has happened since my last post in August! So stay tuned to future posts as I try to catch up from August to the end of January real quick :)

Michigan

For our anniversary, we did an overnight trip to Michigan. It was a good mini vacation. We didn't really have a plan other than we wanted to go to this little indoor water park that we found that wasn't too far away from home. It was called Safari Joe's. It was small but perfect for 2 and 4 year old boys!. We ventured into Benton Harbor for dinner at Chili's and to take a picture of the sunset (We were a little late). We stayed at Safari Joe's for the night (it was a hotel too). The next day we drove around a lot just checking out the pretty state! The landscape is so pretty! Lots of grape farms! Lots of produce farms!! We loved it! We took the boys to a beach also to let them see at the water. We got our feet wet and ran around on the beach. On the way home we stopped at a place and had cheeseburgers. They were awesome! And the served their waffle fries with sour cream! It was so good! This town was so nice and lots of shops to look at! Then we headed home. Pictures from our mini vacation are below

Project for a rainy morning....

I really like to use my weekends to do work outside, but this morning we had a thunderstorm that lasted for a while. It has been a while since we've had rain and we REALLY needed it, so I won't complain :). So it was a morning to do some things inside. I had an order for a birthday banner, so I used the rainy weather as a time to get that done.
I love my Cricut!

I love how it turned out!
I really enjoy using my Cricut and these banners are a neat decoration for birthday parties. I want to make up some and put them on Etsy too
